The States of Being

I challenged myself to only use large knives to carve The States of Being series. I had been working on the children's book Little Red Snapperhood for months, carving the fine details of underwater scenes in 16 slabs of linoleum  with my smallest knives. Taking time out to work broadly and more freely was very appealing.

The pieces are about feeling good, feeling content, and feeling centered within one's self.

Doing the best you can with your every moment of being, whether you are hiking in an alpine meadow or washing the dishes.

Bee nature...dragonfly nature...human nature.

Recognizing the moment as...The State of Being.
